Major Nathaniel Mitchell Chapter, NSDAR

Georgetown, Delaware

Welcome to the Major Nathaniel Mitchell Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR). Our Georgetown chapter was organized on December 8, 1972. Our focus is patriotism, education, historic preservation, as well as community service.

Our renowned Patriot, Major Nathaniel Mitchell, a hero in the Revolutionary War, and a Governor of the State of Delaware was born in Laurel, Delaware in 1753. He was the son of James and Margaret Dagsworthy Mitchell. His mother was a sister of General John Dagsworthy, a famed French and Indian War and Revolutionary War hero. Nothing of Mitchell’s education and early life is recorded.
